Our trip to the Savannah College hosted hunter/jumper show in Hardeeville, SC was a huge
success for Spring Valley riders. We spent two days competing
to come home with three big wins! Savannah Mashburn won Future Hunter
champion, with three first place ribbons and two second place ribbons
aboard Spring Valley's pony, Lucky Charmer, a bay five year old pony gelding
now being offered for sale. Savannah also won Pre-Childrens Reserve Champion
on her thoroughbred gelding, One in a Million, "Ilion". Risë Jones picked
up the Low Hunter Champion on HighJack with four first place and one second
place. With all our trips we are sure to spend plenty of time seeing the
sights, and we had a great time getting to know the historic city of
Savannah, even though we had to drive over such an enormous bridge to get
there! Of course, every souvenir had Savannah's name on it, so we brought
back plenty of that as well!
Due to the extreme heat this summer, we have not been able to have our pony
play days. Also, many of the shows we usually would have attended were
cancelled as well. So, before the new school year began, we had a little
fun one full moon night. Pony bright night was a big hit as we did our
usual: saddle up all the horses and ponies, and keep swapping riders until
everyone had an opportunity to ride all the mounts. Randy was named
"Bobblehead" after she rode some of the smallest of ponies, and little
Maggie gained tons of bravery after riding Captain Hook, our
Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross. She then asked, "Ms. Risë, so you need me
to work down that pony for that other girl", who was older and bigger than
her!! I love creating brave riders!!!
You will all be glad to know that 'Major's' trip to live with his new owners in
North Carolina was great. It was an easy trip and we had a great time while
we were there. Dany and the girls, Kiera and Rylie, will be greatly missed
here. I talk to them frequently and they are enjoying the new farm and the
new trainer. It was difficult for me not to accept a
training/teaching position while I was there, but I just could not leave any of
you here!
On my way to North Carolina, I dropped off 'Handsomely' with his new trainers in Aiken,
SC where he has already began his work on the track. I
got word the other day that he is doing wonderful in his workouts and was
prepped properly for the job. I really enjoyed getting him broke and
breezing around for his owner. We will be kept updated as to when his first
race at Churchill will be for any of you who show interest in watching him
go.
